What TV shows did you watch as a kid?
Well, let’s talk about the TV shows from this generation to the previous generation. Nowadays, what is acceptable from one week to the next constantly comes into question, one thing I think, would be appropriate would be to more accurately categorize it, is what is acceptable.
So when I was a teenager, I watched shows such as knight rider, the A-Team, MacGyver, and Magnum PI. Now, one of the great things about those shows is that by and far typically they would not show overt violence or sexual behavior. There was always the innuendo that something sexual was happening. When you saw two people kissing, and then they disappeared into a room and the door shut. I find that in today’s time we as a society, feel like we have to see that, we have become to focused on the need to see everything which makes us then well lack imagination.
I say that as I sit here and write a screenplay for a feature film, which can best be described as a John wick type film. Now, that being said, there is some violence, but there is no need to have overt grotesque violence to be shown, this is not the genre for that. If it was a slasher/horror film, then yeah, I could certainly understand it but if you’re watching that genre, you know what you’re expecting.
Decency, that’s what I watched as a kid. I watched G.I. Joe, Saturday morning, cartoons, and funny enough. If I got up too early, I’d watch the 700 club before my cartoons came on. No, I’m not mad gone are the days of commercials if you pay enough for your streaming services but I do Long for the days of better TV.
